Context
When TikTok was banned in India overnight, 200M users were left without their favorite app. ShareChat (India's largest regional social network) saw an opportunity to capture this market with a new short-video app called Moj.
My Role
1 of 5 founding PMs. Owned authentication, instrumentation, and core user flows.
Challenge
7-day timeline from zero codebase to public launch. Regulatory uncertainty. No existing short-video infrastructure.
Approach
- Leveraged existing ShareChat content library to bootstrap content supply
- Phone + OTP authentication first for fastest user onboarding
- Consumption-only MVP - no creation features in v1
- Parallel workstreams: I focused on auth while others handled feed and playback
Result
10M users in week 1. 50% organic acquisition. Became India's #1 short-video app with 160M+ monthly users today.
